Everyone knows the importance of monitoring bee populations but it’s not always that easy finding our little striped friends – as any small, round, yellow bear will tell you – but if you live in America or Canada you could make life a little easier for the Wildlife Preservation (WPC) by becoming part of an army of volunteers.
.
There’s no need to disguise yourself as a rain-cloud – risking life and loose stitching for a glimpse of honeycomb. Taking part in Bumble Bee watch couldn’t ‘bee’ simpler. It only takes three steps to help WPC in monitoring rare bee populations – such as the endangered Rusty-patched bumble bee – simply venture out armed with a camera and follow the next 3 steps;
.
1. Take a photo of your bee
2. Log in to your account to upload your picture and finally
3. identify your species.
.
After you’re done, an expert will verify your identification and add your data to the map of bees where your findings could help WPC in their efforts to protect vulnerable populations. Now wouldn’t that ‘bee’ nice.
.
Disclaimer – bee puns are not necessary for participation and could get annoying. Bee safe out there…sorry!
